Two years ago, I went on an amazing trip to Peru. We had many wonderful adventures, but one that remains in my memory with the most beautiful colors was the village of Chinchero. This was a stop in the mountains outside of Cuzco on our way to Machu Picchu. The women there still do the traditional style of weaving using a backstrap loom. The entire process is done by hand--shearing, cleaning, spinning, dying with natural materials, and weaving. The patterns are unique to the village, and the natural colors are gorgeous.
